We shouldn't lump them all together 98

posted Tue, 10/07/08
Ali

I think there are different types of people. We shouldn't lump them all together and pigeonhole everybody, or we risk being really wrong about them. However, if the shoe fits, why not let them wear it?

I think that if you only go after one particular kind of woman (the "beautiful" type, who probably have had their head pumped up by the fact that many men are interested in them), your view about women in general may cater to those experiences, which may be good or bad.

If what you want is a superficial woman then you will get whatever comes with that territory. However, you always have options. Not all women are like that. Just know what usually associates with what. Notice trends. And heed warning flags. Make good decisions on what to want in a woman and what to look for, etc. Make sure you do not exhibit the same features you wish to avoid in others. And you will be OK.

Did Ali really post this? Wow, some actual good advice!

with all due respect DJ, I think Ali posts many common sense ideas worth reading

He's been saying this for years.

Until today, you'd have chewed his ass of for it, claiming that he hated women because he mentioned that some of them are hurtful.

"with all due respect DJ I think Ali post many common sense ideas woth reading "

like calling women sluts (oh wait, SOME women)? Or how about the time he made fun of women with "stretched out" vaginas?" Ali's post was in response to Terri, who said she initially was interested in the blog, but could not tolerate all the animosity towards women.

A poster named Tinzley who used to post here was debating respectfully with Ali, but by the end of the debate, she said she felt her viewpoint was not being heard. If their were more posts that were like these, do you think Tinzley, Allison, and terri would leave the blog feeling that they have wasted their time?

And PEOPLE are hurtful, not simply women. Such narrowminded focus does not come across as trying to understand a situation as much as it looks like petty retaliation.

"I enjoy reading this blog, because of the man's perspective. It's annoying to get advice on men from women, it should come from men."

Here was terri's initial objective when she came to this blog (Funny, she wasn't accused of being DJ at this point). She went from trying to understand a male's perspective, to being taken aback by how resentful the perspective on this blog was.

I saw that once terri became "hostile" (and accused of being DJ at this point) she was told She was the one living in a "watered down" world. It was okay for the men here to be hostile, but not okay for a woman to react to it. It's okay for the men here to imply women are greedy whores, but not okay to point out that a lot women aren't. So their are other websites where the men post things that are "much worse"? And nobody, not for one second, believes those men are genuine nice guys who are merely trying to work out their frustration as opposed to men who simply want to bash women because they feel they are entitled to. The main difference between those types of blogs and this one is that for a few moments, the women here believe they might actually have a voice, that someone may actually consider their viewpoint. And the spelling is somewhat better.

You have the privilege, because Dave allows it, to react.

Thing is, others also have the same privilege to react, or to take you seriously or not, or view you as a nutjob or not.

You know what happens when viewpoints become one-sided? People who don't feel they are getting their say leave. As you have seen. Yes, Dave could sensor viewpoints that don't bash women, but then you'd have nothing but people sitting around saying the same things over and over and not learning or growing in anyway.

Hell, what am I saying, the people here don't grow no matter what viewpoint is expressed.

You're only allowed to post here because Dave isn't into censorship.

So if someone isn't "getting their say", it's because they chose not to get it. It's their own choice and their own fault.

...and to be very honest, what is bothering you and most of the "hit and run" female posters about this blog is the same thing that bothers them in most other areas of the internet that aren't heavily moderated or women-only...that is that online there is no special treatment for being female. In order to get anywhere in an exchange of ideas, you have to know what you're talking about, and be ready to stand your ground. If not, then nobody is obligated to pretend as if you're smarter, wiser, or cooler than you are. Everyone is on equal footing.

It can be difficult for people who are used to intimidating others with their genitalia, whether male or female, to adjust to the internet.

Oh well.

"So if someone isn't "getting their say", it's because they chose not to get it. It's their own choice and their own fault.

So, when "nice" guys claim to not be able to express themselves in society, this must be the reason then. Not girls who only date "bad boys" not the "bad boys" not misandrists or femi-nazi or dear old mom and dad. If they can't make their own voices heard, they have nobody to blame but themselves. Right?

"that is that online there is no special treatment for being female"

And what bothers "nice" guys is that they get no special treatment for being "nice". "Nice" guys have more in common with women who expect special treatment than with actual nice guys. A genuine nice guy does not do something with the expectation to be rewarded with love, attention or pussy. He is a good person because that is who he is. He isn't gullible like a "nice" guy is either. That's the thing the posers can't figure out. And that is what leaves them resentful.

Of all things on this blog to be protested, you protest THIS post?

I really am wasting my time here aren't I?

I am not saying anything contradictory to anything I've said before.

Why the suprise?

In fact my POV has been very consistent since I first came here.

However I did and still do make a sharp distinction between people who behave honorably and respectfully in their relationships versus those who do not.

Maybe you don't like that for some reason but tough tomales.

I strive to define things according to what they are.

Not what other people would like me to think they are, or are not.

Not according to how somebody arbitrarally FEELS about it at that moment.

Yes, Virginia, there is a critera for what is WIN and what is EPIC FAIL.

You would be wise to learn the difference.

You are not PC, so why should I be?

So stop acting like I peed in your coffee.

Me saying what I think defines slut behavior should not ruin your weekend, especially when what I said co-incides with the well doccumented definition of what a slut is.

You gotta problem? Take it up with Websters'.

DJ, continuing the spirit of frankness, I could really give a rat's arse about your generalizations about the posters here. By continuing along those lines, you're showing yourself to be just as much a misandrist as you accuse others of being misogynist.

In fact, you're worse because the guys who come here claiming that all women are whores are usually as hit-and-run as the women who complain that those guys are being too harsh, and then blame the regulars for the "hostility" of random passers by. You've been running on your hamster wheel of hatred for almost three years now...and you are actually part of the hostility problem.

Try being part of the solution.

As usual, a certain someone throws themselves a 'nobody understand me' pity party, and the same girl shows up to dance with him. Dancing to the tired old tune of 'we want a certain person to not post on the blog, yet we wonder where they are when they are gone'

*rolls eyes*.
