It depends on why they were treated badly in the first place. I had compassion for a woman who I later found out was having affairs with other men while she was married. Her husband treated her bad for a good reason. Another women sucked me in and I later found that she had 4 kids from 4 different men. Manipulated those men for child support. Her own retirement plan. Had the last one at 42 years old. I was totally blindsided by her "poor me" talk and was glad nothing came of it. She was a master. So now when a woman tells me all the bad things her BF or ex husband has done. I reply with "And you had sex with him".

I agree, women want the relationship and men want the physical. Women are not happy being single and men are not happy being celibate.
